Solidarity and Justice for

A worker who fought for dignity and was betrayed by the
system

Asif’s story

Asif Javed Jutt was a worker at Nestle Pakistan who dared to
unionize for better rights. In 2014, he was fired for standing up
to the company. For nine years, he fought a legal battle,
winning his case at the National Industrial Relations
Commission. But Nestle’s management dragged him through
endless appeals, using their power to break him. Asif lost his
home, his car, and his hope. Unable to feed his children or
afford their education, he was pushed to the edge. In 2023,
he tragically took his own life by self-immolation on the
premises of Lahore High Court. Even after his death, the legal
fight continues. His family and supporters are determined to
hold Nestle accountable and secure justice for Asif. His
children, now without a father, deserve a future free from the
exploitation he fought against. Asif’s story is a stark reminder
of the cost of fighting corporate greed—and the urgent need
for solidarity.
